IP Video - Newtek - NDI

Postby azman » Wed May 11, 2016 3:58 am

Hey Guys,

I'm hearing more & more about a new video IP protocol launched at NAB in the US last month,
http://www.newtek.com/ndi.html
It's obviously early days at this moment in time but the consensus that I'm hearing is this maybe a game changer.
Seeing as thou it is open source, it would appear that wide spread adoption maybe a real possibility,
If so, it would be a welcome feature as an input source in to PB...

or perhaps even as an output source option as well??

Regards

Hi,

we are aware of NDI and watching where the development leads to.
It is an interesting solution.

Hi,

I'm curious about this as well.

I've read elsewhere that Newtek provides drivers that take NDI streams and route them into the DirectShow interface. If this is correct, then it might be a way of implementing NDI in PB until native support is implemented.

Christie has also been developing a Video over IP system. It might be a complicated situation for Pandora to support a protocol from a competitor.

Have you tried NDI Virtual Input tested in V6 and works fine with any NDI stream.

But with this virtual input you only can receive one stream and there is no possibility to switch it automatically.
And via this workaround it is not possible to receive alpha via NDI.
It would be really grate to have native NDI support in Pandora.

Hello,

I am trying to send UHD 50p through NDI to a quad server with PB 6.1.1

I installed the NDI tool kit and when i start the ndi monitor to check the signal, all seems good.
In PB the NDI live input shows up in the assets tab and when i integrate the live input into the timeline, i get a black image.

If I go to the live input configuration in VNC and choose the NDI input, it shows the default 720p30 as available resolution.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!!
