Hi Matze,
Can you explain what you are hoping for?`

hi daniel,

thanks for your reply.
what im looking for is the possibility to raise the network performance from the manager with a second network card from 1Gbit up to 2Gbit. IT nerds call that link aggregation. sorry for that nerdy vocabulary!

Hi,

I understand, but as far as I understand it, link aggregation is a Hardware (NIC) feature and not a software feature. And not only your NIC needs to support it, but also the switch.

A good option for higher thru-put is a 10GBit NIC and a 10 GBit Switch. Even if all the clients are 1GB and only the Manager is 10GB and connected to 10GB Switch you already gain a lot.

hi daniel,

yes, link aggregation at first is a feature of a switch (nearly on every managed switch). but also pb is not able to communicate simultaniously on two nics which makes me unable to use link aggregation.
10gbit stuff is quiete expensive at the time. in that case it plays no roll for approx. the next 3 years. i agree that some kind network acceleration makes no really sense on the clients but a lot on the manager.
the times getting harder, the files bigger, the programming slots shorter. why blowing out expensive time for file speads...

Hi Matze,

I understand, but it is not PBs Job to handle the Link Aggregation, it is the drivers Job of the NIC.

Link Aggregation makes 2 NICs look like one to the applications, as far as I understand it.
