Wide Pixel Re-map in Matrix Patcher

Postby JustynR » Tue Jan 12, 2016 7:04 am

I've got several screens that are larger than 1920 wide.

For instance, I have one @ 2400 x 240
and another @ 3264 x 144.

Obviously I can fit these 2 screens on 2 outputs if I cut them up and stack them.

I can't create the content cut up like this because I have some video captures that I have to map through to them.
I know the workaround in the Warper for this... but I need it to be much more accurate - advertisers counting pixels... you know how it is...

I need this answer very very quickly as to whether or not I can make this happen... if I can't answer, "Yes, absolutely" then the show will be using another server system that "Can do this very easily."

This is definitely not the first time I've had to do this, but this is the first time I can't just take 4 extra dongles on the show.

Attached is what I've tried and what the result is of that attempt.

Thank you very much!

Hi Justyn,

if you are using server, you can create more cameras and use these cameras as media in other layers.
So you can compose everything as you want for your outputcamera.

Unfortunately this is not possible in players, I think.

Hi Justin,

There is. Markus and Thomas figured this one out.

You need one 3D object/warp to translate from your remap resolution to the output resolution through. But in between you can do remapping in full res and everything is native.

Change the Camera to use the remap resolution. Create a new remap in remap resolution. Now put the remap effect on the output and it will move the pixels as you need. The last step is to add an 3D object/warp to pick out the area that all the parts are remapped to (output resolution). You can either do this by scaling a newly created full screen warp OR changing the mesh/UV coordinates on the full screen mesh.

Thanks for the fast reply!

So for example, if I were to double the resolution horizontally in the Camera and the Matrix Patcher, In the Warper, I would scale the Horizontal mesh by 50%?

Do I understand this process correctly?

Thank you,

Justyn

Hello Justyn,

I think it has to be 200%. You will probably see right away if somethings off.
