Unable to do live warping

Hi all,

Was trying out the dynamic warping feature with an imported 3ds object.
It was imported correctly into the wrapper and i followed the instructions to do the networking setup and export of the object.
Everything worked out fine including the manual stating that the layer become a line until I adjusted the object in the wrapper.
The line turn back into a flat layer instead and not the 3D object.
Am I missing something? The left screen is the output and the right is the wrapper.

Hi Juay,

the dynamic warping is not meant to be used with 3ds-objects.
Up to now it only supports the information coming from 2D meshes created by the warper itself. Therefore you end up with a 2D shape of your texture.

Oh. I presumed that importing the 3ds object automatically creates the mesh for the user.
But will the output work if I do not use live wrapping?
that is to say i import the object and tweak it in wrapper, export and use it in the layer normally as a .x file.

Hi!

Using an .x-file which has been exported from a 3ds file will definitely work. Therefore we have the option "export .3ds to .x". This is exactly for what it is meant. Loading .3ds-files, bending them until they fit on the real object and export them as an .x-file to be used within PB environments.
Only the dynamic warping is treading the objects differently as we have to feed the information live into Pandoras Box.

Hi Markus,

Thank you for explaining all this to me.
Appreciate it.
