? PB Warp implementations

Postby alverman » Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:08 pm

Good morning.
I'm trying to make a warp model.
For the particular shape of my model I have to reduce the grid and from there begin to adapt to the surface.
Okay but to work well in my opinion could be implemented some functions.

1: Select all meshes
Occasionally some stretching the grid points are brought out from the area and cleared if you can not return
2: Undo on the move
3: Moving mesh horizontal / vertical
That can move the selected meshes only vertically or horizontally depending on the choice
4: Scaling in the horizontal / vertical

It might be useful?

Thanks, Alberto

Hi Alberto,

most of your wishes already work in Warper Rev 4417 / 4569:

1: Select all meshes
--> Depending on being in FFD or Mesh Mode, pressing [CTRL+A] will select all FFD Control Points / all Mesh Points.

2: Undo on the move
--> There is no undo function. But you can remove the offset of selected Mesh Points by pressing [R].

3: Moving mesh horizontal / vertical
That can move the selected meshes only vertically or horizontally depending on the choice
--> this is only working when using the keyboard instead of the mouse - pressing arrow left/right or up/down lets the mesh move in only one direction.

4: Scaling in the horizontal / vertical
--> this can be done when you are in Move-Mode and use the mouse. Press [3] on your keyboard so you get to scale-mode. If you know select the Mesh or FFD Control Points, click the right mouse button. Moving the mouse up/down will scale in Y axis, moving it left/right will scale the selection in X axis.
By the way: pressing [2] in Move-Mode will activate the rotation, [1] lets you get back to normal Move Mode.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Julia

Perfect)

And to clear accidentally selected a mesh without losing all other selections?

Ohoh, this needs a kind of magic.....
No, sorry, you can't do it because there is no real UNDO-function.

Excuse me if I go back on this, but I would be very easy to rotate (Key 2) and scale (key 3) including keyboard and not only mouse.
I know I'm the last to arrive but I would be more comfortable with these implementations.

Hi Alberto,

yes, you're right, this would be nice. I'll forward this wish to our programmer.

In my opinion also a confirmation on pressing R (reset mesh) would be very useful :D

Hi Alberto,

we are currently working on a new warper version with a lot of fancy features, including the reset-mesh-option. As there will be also a real UNDO-function, there will be no need for confirming the reset. I think it will be out in +/- one month.
As workaround to reset the whole mesh in the current version (without resetting the FFD), just change the amount of mesh segments (eg +1 and then back -1). This resets the mesh and not the FFD.

Best regards,
Julia

Ok.
Unfortunately for the work that I do not use predominantly FFD for November but I will work hard with the mesh.
I have to do is work with two projectors.

The problem is that this scene I will repeat in other theaters, so the scene may be small changes.

Since the walls are not straight I use a dense mesh for obscure parts project

About you some guidance on how to create this mesh warping?
is my first job ever with this type of projection)

I hope to have a Warping for November of the even more powerful

Many thanks for your great work.

Alberto
