Adding an Effect to a DMX Device

Postby fix8_lewis » Thu Apr 19, 2018 1:11 pm

I've got some led fixtures patched that are controlling LED Strip,

I want to make the red channel do a slow pulse. Is there a way to add an effect to a dmx device or infinitely loop a section of the timeline until I send a command to jump to a different cue?

PB is a Round Peg in a square hole for this job... but it's what I've got.

I want to be able to do this within PB, not interacting with any other software like WD

Running PB 6.0.5

TIA

Hi,

if the stripes are art-net devices you can patch them with the matrix patcher and use a graphic layer with an fx to control them.
if not you have to use a second timeline.

Best,

Thanks Benni,

I am trying to avoid using any graphic output for this solution,

Can you explain what you mean by using a second timeline?

Thanks

Lewis

Hi Lewis,
Benni pointed out 2 very good solutions.

Second timeline solution means using advanced timeline programming mechanism to change only 1 parameter of a fixture which is used on sequence 1 from a 2nd sequence. But you have to be careful with sequence defaults. Keywords to look after are "Enforce defaults" and "Toggle Keymode".

More information about advanced timeline programming is provided in our "Pandoras Box Timeline Programming Training".
