Decklink Quad as outputs?

Postby Brett2012 » Thu Aug 25, 2022 1:37 am

Hello all,
Just wondering if I can use the Decklink Quad 2 for outputs?
I know I can do this with other programs like resolume and vmix just was not sure if this has been implemented in PB?

Thanks

Hi Brett, unless something significant has changed in the current render engine and render path for Pandoras Box, you cannot use a card like the BM Deck link cards as output cards.
Cards like these and the AJA cards render in conjunction with the CPU. I don't know the dataflow completely and i would love to understand this in more detail, but Pandoras render engine relies heavily on the GPU to process AND output the final rendered frames.
It would be good to know why it is this way? Why other software can use these cards? What advantages each method has? Why PB chose their method? etc.... although that last one i figure is embedded deep in the past when media servers were first being born :)

Hello All,

Thank you for your post.
Currently, we do not have this feature in Pandoras Box.
To output video, through something other than the GPU, is on the wishlist.
We do not support Blackmagic cards - We test, implement and recommend Deltacast cards.
The Flex Cards from Deltacast have a great feature set.

Cheers,

Hi,

All DirectShow Capture Cards are supported, including Blackmagic Decklink.
Pandoras Box Hardware is sold with Deltacast Cards or SDVoE Cards.
Those cards are implemented using their native SDK.

To clarify,

The original question is asking if a Black Magic Decklink card can be used for the OUTPUT of Pandoras Box.

We're to understand that DeltaCast is natively built into Pandoras Box to be used as an OUTPUT?

I am sorry, but at this point in time all I can say is that there is no plan to support Blackmagic Decklink SDI Outputs in one of the next releases.
As always things might change.
