Compact player Client wont connect unless provoked

Postby Darren » Tue Dec 20, 2022 11:19 pm

Hello,
I have a system set up with a Manager with 3 3D clients servers, 3 2D servers and two compact players.
Everyone is running PB v8.6.2 with PB_Menu7.5.1 Windows 10pro v21H2
When the system boots up or reboots, ALL the clients are talking to the manager and visible in the Server Management app in PB Menu EXCEPT one of the Compact Players we are calling Compact Player G. He is visible in the device list on the PB project on manager but his machine and are not in the list of active clients. All the clients are set to auto-start PB windowed.
They are all in Port 5900 under VNC server settings.
When we go to the Menu and click on Server Management on the Compact player's desktop, he is pops up on the managers Server Management Page.
So basically we cant see Compact Player G on Manager's until we click the server management tool on his machine.
Hopefully this is an easy setting. We have reinstalled PB Menu and PB software and rebooted.
Any ideas??
Thanks!!
Darren

Hi Darren,

trying to understand your Problem.
Did I understand this correctly.
You have one Manager Computer and 8 Client Computers.

WHen you start the system all 8 Client Computers show up in Pandoras Box, but not in ServerManagement. One Client is missing there.

Correct?

Several stupid questions, just to make sure:

All Clients run fine from Pandora?
Did you swap Networkports for the client that is not working?
What kind of Switch are you using?

Can you check the Firewall?
Does the problem go away when you turn off the firewall?

Yes all the other clients auto-populate to ServerManagement but this one compact player. They all show up and run fine in Pandora. Its almost as if we have to wake him up from his own ServerManagment from PBMenuG

Several stupid questions, just to make sure:

All Clients run fine from Pandora? YES
Did you swap Networkports for the client that is not working? YES
What kind of Switch are you using? netgear ProSafe Gs748T

Can you check the Firewall?
Does the problem go away when you turn off the firewall? Fire wall is Off on both machines
Thanks you so much for your response,
-Darren

A few more followup questions:

Does the problem stay with that computer when you swap network ports with one other computer?
What are the IP Settings of 2 of the clients (please include subnetmask)

Can you double check subnetmasks on all Systems.
You use 255.255.0.0
If one has 255.255.255.0 by accident, this might cause the problem.
