Can I use the audio outs on a compact player

Postby robert.triad » Fri Nov 21, 2014 4:42 pm

Hi together,
the subject is pretty much the question: is it possible to use the audio outputs of the compact player to play back audio (embedded or a extra track) in sync with a video? Or do I need an extra usb sound card for the compact player?

Regards

If it is embedded in the video, yes it can play out of the audio card.

This however will make the video out of sync with any other machine that is also playing that video - even if it is being played off of a timeline - the audio will match up with the video, but the video will not match with other Players or Servers.

If you want to split the audio out of the video, you can play it on a video layer and it will play out of the headphone jack on your computer.

The Audio tracks are reserved for ASIO audio cards - like the USB one you mentioned.

Hope this helps,

ASIO4ALL usually works, though it is unsupported.
I have never tried it on a compact player.

Thanks for your reply guys. If I understand you right, the videos lose sync when played. Is this the case only when they play the *same* video?

In my case I want to loop four videos each on a own compact player. The videos have the same length and should start synchronously. If I trigger all four starts when the video ended will this be a workaround?

I could use simple loop hardware-players like brightsigns and sync them, but I need to do a kind of a "projection mapping" this is why i want to go with compact players.

thanks

Hi Robert,
The Compact Player itself has no timeline, just a playlist.
I suggest a a Manager LT, featuring 8 ASIO tracks as master.
The Manager will synchronize the Compact Players and the audio.

Version B:
4x Compact Station (or your own WIN hardware), each one with a Player STD licence. Use one as master, featuring two ASIO tracks.

All the best
Oliver
