whitch video container with alpha for HD files ?

Postby selor » Sat Nov 29, 2008 1:32 pm

Hey :)
When you are making a production often customers needs layers moving with video and masks are often not enough to make what they want.
Is there any codec or container best for a good playback in HD but with an alpha on ??
Because .mov ok but if i made a mov file in Quicktime animation i think we would have problems with disc rates.
I am not sure about the HuffYUV codec in an avi container or some lossless codecs ??
What is the best PB team for U ?

bad encoding sometimes with this codec ... hard to calculate for machines ..
would it be possible to use this codec in pandora as lossless alpha codec Jan ?

Have make some tests with two files, one encoded in Lagarith and another one in HuffYUV 2.1.1.

Results :

I arrive to have directly working my alpha in pandora on an avi container with the lagarith codec after check "video alpha channel" on this media.
The same operation on the huffYuv file seems doesn't working.

Lagarith codec was good for how we need to make but the problem if you use it on more than 2 files will be the rates i think . Because for an HD (1920*1080) file in lagarith the rate is about 60MBytes.

But its working with one file no problem it can be usefull for some shows.

Regards.
