Hi!

Did you deselect the serial link header?

Hi again,

are you definitely using the right port?
Is there an option to deactivate the remoting inside the projector?

I do not know where to find the right port on the projector

and I do not understand what exactly you want to know if I can turn off the projector....

thanks again

Hi!

If you did not find anything it would be the best to contact your local dealer where you bought the projector and ask him for the settings.

I meant that there is maybe an option to deactivate the tcp remoting functionality within the projector. But as long as you are not sure about the right port, you cannot send anything to the projector.

Markus Zeppenfeld wrote:Hi everybody,

here is the way to work with TCP connections directly to the Christie projectors.

- add the "serial link" device to your device tab (out of the "Device Types")
- select the serial link and open the inspector
- deselect "use serial link header"
- type in the right IP-address of the projector and its connection port (e.g. 3002 for Christie Mirage 3D projectors)
- click "apply IP and port"
- now the red exclamation mark on the serial link device disappears
=> you are connected to the projector

Hi Markus,

after some googeling about that specific question, I must say I'm a bit confused.
Is "Serial Link" a hardware device ?
I've tried what you described here, but after a few second, I systematically get the red exclamation mark.
I'm able to successfully ping the projector from the PB player and even control it from a web browser.

In Network Setting of the projector (Christie LX1000), I cannot find any place to set TCP/IP port.
In Serial Port Setting, there is a port number (set to 3002), alongside Baude Rate, Parity, Flow Control and so on.
Are those related to TCP/IP ?

On the Coolux side, are TCP/IP and Serial parameters found in the Timeline inspector related to what I'm trying to do ?

Thank you

Hello,

yes, the Serial Link is a hardware device but for this example you do not need to have the device itself. The projector is taking it's place as you want to send TCP commands to the projector (or any other TCP-supporting device like a matrix or DVI switcher etc.). What we do is simply sending commands via a TCP connection.
you write " but after a few seconds" does this mean that you are able to establish a connection for a couple of seconds and then the icon turns red again?

Then you write, that you can control it via a web browser. What IP address do you use there? Mostly, a projector can only connect to one TCP sender. Good changes that it listens to the browser and because of this it cannot connect to Pandoras Box.
How do you actually connect the web browser to the projector? I do not see a LAN port in the user manual of the projector, only a rs232 interface for serial commands...

If you can only connect via a serial interface you will need an adapter, eg to Ethernet or USB but then of course you cannot send the commands via a TCP connection but a serial connection. For this you can use the Widget Designer, for example.

Hi Markus

I have set up my server ver 7832 as per your description.

- add the "serial link" device to your device tab (out of the "Device Types")
- select the serial link and open the inspector
- deselect "use serial link header"
- type in the right IP-address of the projector and its connection port
- click "apply IP and port"
- now the red exclamation mark on the serial link device disappears
=> you are connected to the projector

- insert key frames on the timeline (by right clicking) where ever you want to send commands to the projector
- click on the created key frame and edit the data you want to send, in the inspector in the "data" field

This is where things are not working, I enter (For my BARCO) the following without quotes "op picture.mute = 1 "
or 0 to turn shutter on / off.

In the inspector data field do I need to add brackets ? or a specific send command ?

Hi tjay,

does the exclamation mark disappear? Are you definitely connected?
You could try to use round brackets as often commands are send within these.

Basically there is nothing more to think about if you followed my instructions.
Let me know if ti helps.

HI Markus,

Yes the exclamation disappears, so I presume I am connected.

And wireshark confirms I am sending the command, but then barco reply's but does not acknowledged the full command. only part of it.

I have tried every variant, including [CR] at the end, and with the whole command with brackets without brackets.

I am going to try to set it up with the widget designer today as advised by your colleague Daniel, I will post my results.

Thanks for the help

HI There,

I set it up using WD and it worked. :)

For some reason when I tried using a serial link the [CR] command was not getting to the projector.

Hi TJay,

this might be an "issue" within the serial link connection as it was not designed to connect to anything.
Nevertheless we will double check this and have a look into it.

For now, you could trigger the button within the widget, which is then sending out the command to the projector
Hope that workaround is suitable for you.

Hello has this issue been cleared in the meantime?
I am at the moment trying to connect with serial_link.clb to another PC over TCP . On the other PC a PJlink emulator is running. WHen I connect the exclamation mark stays red, but the monitor panel of the PJlink emulator sees an incoming connection. However, I can't get any commands out to the other PC.
I have exactly the same issue when I want to use seriallink with remoting on widgetdesigner ( on the same machine). No connection gets established.
Firewalls and such are off, and i am in the 2.0.0.x IP range with all machines

Hi John!

As long as you see the red exclamation mark you will not have a valid connection and therefore nothing will be send out from PandorasBox.
Are you sure about your ports when connecting to the WidgetDesigner?
Are all applications started with the right IP address? Sometimes PB or WD is connecting to the WiFi-card if this is available at the same time.
