With Version 5 ASIO Track were introduced to Pandoras Box.
ASIO Tracks are Layers that enable us to playback Multichannel Audio fully integrated and synchronized with the Timeline.
Depending on your Product between 1 and 32 Audiotracks are available.
ASIO Track can only playback Mono or Stereo PCM Wav files.
MP3, WMA and other Formats are not supported, but still can be played on regular video layers.
All WAV Files have to be in the same sample rate and that sample rate has to be supported and selected in your ASIO Sound Device.
Pandoras Box will not do any samplerate conversions. This means if you play a 44.1k file and your Sound Device is set to 48k your wav file will be played back too fast.
The ASIO Configuration Tab lists all avaiable ASIO Sound Device on the system and lets you choose your system sample rate along with a Master Volume (Default Value is -3.1 dB).
Normally supported sample rates are 44.1k and 48k. Better Sound Device also Support 96k.
More information about sampling rate can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_rate
Higher sample rates mean higher Quality.
48k is generally a great choice.
After selecting a ASIO Sound Device you can get information about all supported channels and their corresponding IDs
Those IDs are used in the Track Inspector in the Audio Channel Input field.
The ID represents the START Channel of the ASIO Track.
A ASIO Track always sends Audio to 2 consecutive Channels.
Example:
Track 1 is routed to Audio Channel 1
Mono Audio Wav on Track 1will be player to Audio Ch 1 and Ch 2.
If you PAN UP, only to Ch 1, PAN Down only to CH 2.
A Stereo Wav will be played as Stereo.
Best Practice:
Make sure your ASIO Sound Device you use in Pandoras Box is not your Windows default Sound Device
Make sure all your Wav files are all at the same level
