Image Sequence jerky

Postby frozenwaffles » Fri May 16, 2014 11:33 pm

Hi, I am trying to use some image sequences that are 4080pix by 720pix. They are PNGs and run at 25 frames per second. They import fine but playback jerky on my server light V2. each frame would be about 3mb in size. is this too much for the HDD to handle?
if I use quicktime PRO to make a video from the image sequence, then they play beautifully. This is now what I am doing for this project (which is on Monday so im out of trouble, but I'd like to know why this isn't working for future projects)

I would say that almost any image sequence is too much for a HDD to handle.

I have 1 machine with a SSD and it will play sequences like this without a problem.

Yeah that's what I was starting to think...
My conversions to QuickTime Animation codec and then to MXL are working a treat :)

Hi,

image sequences, either dds or png will only work with SSD drives. Normal HDD drives are not fast enough to handle the amount of data.
We do offer upgrade kits to turn your Server into a SSD edition server.

best regards

Patrick

Hi,

we would need the server back as we need to change a couple of thing like the raid controller. You will get a complete different hardware storage unit.
If you like to get a quote for that please feel free to contact sales@coolux.de

thanks and best regards

Patrick
