Duplicate Sequence?

Postby frozenwaffles » Mon May 19, 2014 11:21 pm

Hi, is there a way to duplicate a sequence with all its cues?

I don't know if there is... but this would be a great feature...!

I was just on a show where there was another Playback System (initials WO)... and they were able to load "yesterday's" timeline at the same time as "today's" because they had duplicated it.
They were then able to play both back at the same time to make sure that all of the videos were actually playing in sync. (Pro Tools was running time code - for some reason the audio wasn't syncing up properly and they wanted to make sure that the new videos hadn't changed - they played both sequences locked to time code back at the same time - the old one half size and half opacity over top of the new one so we could see if all of the cuts were the same.)

It was one of those "huh that's kinda cool" moments...

It'd be handy...!

That's not right!
I can play all 8 on my manager standard.

I'm thinking it may be because you've used a layer (or multiple layers) on different time lines.
For instance. If you have a container (with or without media in it) on layer one on sequence one, you can not also have anything on layer one on any other sequence.

Is that maybe why it is happening?

Hey Justyn,

I would be very interested in knowing how they managed to run two timelines with the exact same values at the same time. That sounds like technical impossible as you would tell the same device different things a the same time? That is also the reason why you cannot use the same layer at the same time on two different sequences. Doing two different things a the same time is impossible. (I know some women claim they can)

There is one way to copy an entire sequence. You zoom it small enough so that you can see all clips and cues, and while you hold the ALT key pressed you select everything with the mouse. That way you select all clips and cues at the same time. Using copy and paste you can move the whole thing to another sequence and or to another device.
It is not quite the same as a "copy sequence" command, which I agree makes sense sometimes. It hovers on the feature wish list for a while, so maybe we will see it in near future.

best regards

Patrick
