Hello,
I have noticed that our computers running Pandoras Box don't have a serial interface (DB9) on the back of the computer. I was wondering if I should purchase a usb to serial connector or should I purchase a pci e serial card and install it in the computers in order to get serial control out of the media servers. Has anyone had experience with this and if so what brands seem to work the best.
Thanks,
B.

Hello,

Pandoras Box (the software) can not send or receive serial commands using a serial port. It was (well it still is) possible to use the Serial Link (JL Cooper eBox) to send/receive serial commands.

You could use the Widget Designer for sending/receiving serial commands.

Have a look at the manual for other ways to control PB: http://manual.coolux.de/#external_control_dmx_midi.htm

Dennis

Thanks Dennis.
So I could purchase a usb to serial cable and use Widget Designer to send commands to my projectors or do I need the eBox for that also.
Thanks,
B

Hi,

the Widget can handle RS232 interfaces directly. (it could also handle the eBox)
