spreading content failures

Postby Julia Foest » Tue May 19, 2009 9:05 am

Dear all,

when spreading content from the manager to the server, the spreaded files will be stored on the server on the same path the content has on the master, e.g. C:/coolux/projects/.. (manager) the path C:/coolux/projects/.. (server) will be created if it does not already exists.

If you spread files from a different drive, e.g. E:/projects/.. and this drive does not exist on the server, it will always be created under C:/projects/.. EXCEPT if the acccording drive on the server is the CD-Rom drive (usually D:). In this case the content can not be spreaded. A workaround is to change the drive name of the source to a character that does not exist on the receiving device.

Greetings,
Julia

Dear All

Please note that when content is spread to Clients the Master system performs a redundancy check.

If the files on the Client are newer than the files on the Master the files won't be overwritten and will be marked as inconsistent.

This can happen if both Master and Client are setup in different Timezones and the content was already in the location before the spread process was started (ie was copied over manually earlier, but still ahead of time of the Master :))

It is recommended that you always spread from a Master to a Client system, other ways are certainly allowed but depending on the file setup this might lead to undesired behaviours.

Best regards

Jan
