Coloring of layers

Postby cyeary » Mon Oct 06, 2014 8:10 pm

So the new feature of coloring layers is awesome but in 10386 it seems that the color is not truly part of the layer but part of the view. This means that when i decide to change the color of a layer i must go and update ALL of my views in order to get it to stick. This is a pain. I would like the color to be something that is stored with the layer info just like a change in name is.

Hey,

you can send bugs directly to our support email. viewtopic.php?f=80&t=1753&p=7764#p7764

You don't need to send this one, I'll add it tomorrow.

"That's not a feature. It's a bug!"

Who knew. :)

Hey,

I changed my mind. It's a feature!

We'll have to think of a way to allow both behaviors. What do you think about a "global color" checkbox in the inspector? (maybe anybody can come up with a better name?)

I think having a check mark right under the color swatch that says.
"color saved in Config" Would be the way to do it or have it be a one or other

" color saved in Views"
Color Saved in Config

I think its weird to have it saved in views as a default but that is just my opinion. Not sure of any other program that has that type of GUI behavior.

i think that it makes sense to have the color be a property of the layer. not of the layer in a given view. its the same as the layer name.

i dont know why you might want it the other way.
