SMPTE control of two Sequences

Postby Linton9 » Mon Feb 23, 2015 3:28 am

Hello,

Is it possible to use two SMPTE links to each control their own Sequence within Manager?

No it is not.
Right now you can use only 1 SMTPE Link.

What do you need it for?
It is on the feature list, but is not prioritized right now.

Hi Daniel,

We want to control two sequences via a Grass Valley vision mixer.

The end goal is for the TV director to 'call' two different clips instantly via his Grass Valley console, in two outputs of Pandora's box, and trigger them to run, and pause.

Hey Lynden,

Is the SMTPE link necessary in this case? If you just want to "run" it you can do this w/o SMTPE.

Hey Lynden,

in Theorie it should be possible to have more than 1 SMPTE Link, but only 1 can recieve Timecode. Sending Timecode from more than 1 SMTPE Link should be possible.
Would that still help you?

HELP!

I have a client who just told me TODAY that I need to be able to do this for a show on the weekend!!

Both timecode sources are coming from 2 very different places / departments!!

Has there been any progress on this!?

Hi Justyn,

receiving more than 1 Timecode source will NOT be possible in any near future.
Please explain why you need it and what you are trying to do. How should this look like.
The only solution right now is 2 manager systems with dedicated clients each.

Sending out more than 1 Tiemcode can be achived using ASIO Tracks.

Run the 2nd SMPTE into WD and then use it to trigger cue jumps in Manager... Not perfect, but should function.

That's the plan now...

Have you tried doing this on the same machine before or am I going to need another computer for the second cable?

Thanks

I have not tried on the same computer... I am curious if it works though. I think you might need a second computer though.

You will need a secound computer.
As of right now there can only be one SMTPE Link used on a Computer.
