Fullscreen single on client

Postby djrappa » Sat Mar 21, 2015 7:31 am

Id like to be able to have players run as clients with extended desktops but only have PB Fullscreen on the secondary display. Leaving the taskbar, on screen menu, etc on the primary.

Is this possible?

The "Fullscreen is single" checkbox is greyed out...

AFAIK, if you run a player with a single license, it will only feed one display. Perhaps this is why "Fullscreen is single" is greyed out. If your display is in "Stretched" mode, it might explain why the system is filling both outputs.

It only feeds both outputs if the video card is in clone mode.
What I want is for it to go Fullscreen on the secondary monitor rather than the primary when in extended mode.

Hey,

If you are in "Extended Mode" on xp, or on the multi-display mode on 7/8.1 then you can do the following:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3545&hilit=secondary

Why do you want it on the secondary?
Are you trying to run other applications at the same time, on the same system as the client?

Probably a bit dangerous... Definitely test it well.

Also - you can accidentally move a window behind the fullscreen output and you will basically lose it until you take the output out of fullscreen.

Just out of curiosity,

Why is it not an option to just go into your display settings and make your other display the Primary?

Becuase one display is connected to the matrix switcher which feeds the preview monitors at control and the projectors.
The other display is connected to a KVM console in the rack.

It is desirable to have the PB Menu, the start menu, folders, control panel, etc accessible on the KVM. The actual full screen output obviously you want to go to the matrix.

Problem is if you make the matrix output primary, then the PB Menu, etc changes to that and your KVM screen is effectively useless unless you 'drag' everything over from the matrix output which kind of defeats the purpose of having a KVM for management.

The reason I cannot run the video card in clone mode as that whatever output goes to the matrix we see artifacts like timing issues on that output (regardless of physical port), so obviously the video card is not happy redering the full screen output to two physical ports.

Feeding the KVM from the matrix would require a larger matrix and a lot of recabling which is not possible now the installation is in.

Just not quite sure whilst as a master you can tell the player which display to send fullscreen to but not as client...

The machines run Windows 7 but there is no "multi display" uption, only clone or extended.
The machines were all supplied by our local distributor and have ATI cards in them.

Hello,

ATI cards might use a different terminology, but the main thing to look for is that you see different things on the displays and that the task bar is only on the first one.

please have a look at the post I mentioned in my last reply: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3545&hilit=secondary

Why doesn't that work for you?

Because I don't see any of those options in the config or inspector tabs in my manager...

Hey,

why is that? Are you using an older version?

If not: make sure you select the appropriate site (one of the players) in the Render Engine Configuration menu. (Dropdown Box at the very top labeled "Site:")

What release were those options implemented? This install is about 6 months old now. I'd have to check the version it's running when I'm back on site.

Thanks

Yeah the players are running rev 9926 so I'll upgrade them and see how that works out.

Thanks.
