Lock timeline to timecode in

Postby alverman » Tue Oct 13, 2015 8:45 am

Good morning,
I have a project that uses timecode.
I noticed that while I get the timecode advances the timeline but if I press the spacebar the timeline stops.
How do I lock the timeline timecode?

It's possible ?

Thanks, Alberto

Because if I have a timeline that receives the timecode can stop it or move it?
You can not keep her attached to timecode?

it sounds like user input is overriding an automated task.

ie:

1) the computer is chasing timecode
2) a human presses the spacebar
3) the computer reacts to the human input <--------This is the part you don't like??

While others might welcome our machine overlords with open arms, I like the idea of a Program listening to the operator.

Maybe I don't understand?

If a sequence is receiving timecode, in my opinion, it should be locked to the events of timecode !!
If you want to make changes to the sequence, in the planning stage, I'm going to free her from the time code in the inspector ..... mouse is not under timecode :)
This is my thought

I guess I'm considering the operational situation here and not the planning stage. If the program is doing something, and someone decides to press the spacebar, that's an indicator to the program that the operator wants something to happen. if you want the program to ignore input from the user, then you can lock the interface.

I don't believe that the Sequence Timecode Jamming behavior means that the playhead is 'locked' to timecode. In most Timecode playback scenarios, devices "chase" timecode. Every device I have ever worked with using SMPTE tc prioritizes user input over the timecode signal. So, during rehearsal for exampe, if a director tells you to stop video playback, you don't have to fumble with settings or wait for the pro-tools guy to hit Stop for you. The operating concept isn't "Chase timecode and ignore everything else" rather it is "Chase the timecode until or unless I am told otherwise".

The nice part about doing this as well is that when you push spacebar again, it locks to wherever the timecode is if it is still running.

If the timecode stops and starts again, the timeline will continue locked to the timecode.

This is also true when using pause cues.

I'll often use them when I need to loop a single file while the timecode continues - an anthem for example.
