Art-Net Patch for FX

Postby jhofmann@4media.biz » Wed Jan 13, 2016 9:03 pm

Hi @all,

i want to control layer-FX via Art-Net from lighting console.
Patch and all works for opacity but when i patch it for the FX (e.g. RGB Add to colorize the content) it does not take an effect.

Runnging PB QUAD-Player with Manager STD Rev11116.

Doing it by hand in Manager works perfect, just i can't control the FX via patch.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Jochen

If you don't want to create your own device in the console, you've got to patch the layers in "Lighting Console Mode" in PB and in the console.

In Pandoras Box, this will automatically add 4 FX to every layer.

In the Console, it will have access to these 4 extra FX.

You can manually add these FX to each layer you're patching.

It's called "FX Collection Player".
Add 4 of these to each layer you want to control with the Lighting Console & repatch them in the Manager.

It's not really explained very well in the manual...

Let me know if this helps,

Hi Jochen,

you need to patch the same amount of channels in your lighting desk as well.
You then need to patch the FX within the Patch tab. You can open the layer by double clicking it and specify the exact parameters and starting addresses for it.

Hope this helps along.

Everything was patched in the lighting console as well and for all the other channels it was working, but not for the FX.

Solution was to restart Manager and then it was working without any problems

Hi Jochen
so currently the opacity parameters and all effect parameters are patched in PB with unique universe/channels. And you have an according fixture in your lighting desk. When you want to control the opacity from there, it works, but the FX is not controllable. Right?
Did you create your own fixture or did you call it from a library?
When you patched one effect, deleted it and added another effect, it might have a different channel count. This is why Justyn mentioned the FX collection FX. Maybe this gives you better results?!
Can you check the Art-Net monitor (under PB > tools) it shows you incoming Art-Net messages. If this does not help troubleshooting, please attach a picture from your current patch (in PB).
