Multi-Channel Audio

Postby plbrunet » Tue May 17, 2016 4:35 pm

Hi everyone,

From what I read in the Manual, it is only possible to play multi-channel audio files when using a Sonic Emotion Device, is this true? If so, why is it the case?

We have a project running with a Manager STD and I would like to send one 12 channel WAV file over DANTE to an audio DSP, is there a reason why that would not be possible?

Thank you.

Hi,

that is not 100% possible. You can send up to 64 Channels over Dante, but not from a single file.
Sonic Audio is a 3D Audio Render Device, which we no longer support. Sonic changed their software and does not support Pandoras Box anymore.

What you can do is send 6 Stereo WAV Files using ASIO over DANTE.
There is no way at the moment to use WAV Files with more than 2 Channels. Sorry.

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your answer. That's what I thought. It would be handy to have multi-channel audio file support.

Also, while on the subject of Audio, it would be practical for Coolux to be able to do sample rate conversion. Most playback softwares, video and audio, do this. That way, if one receives a file that is not in the same sample rate as the output, it will still play at the right speed. It's not the ideal case scenario, but it gives more flexibility as we often receive different medias types from different places.

Thanks again.

I've done up to 24 channels (main) and 24 channels (backup) for a total of 48 out of a PB system - running from multiple Players.

You can absolutely do a sample rate conversion - the Media Encoder extension now supports standalone Audio conversion.

Create a new profile, at the bottom of the window there is an option to change the sample rate - it's really fast too!

Hope this helps,

That's good to know that we can use the Encoder Extension to convert audio files only.

But I meant that it would be useful if Pandoras Box could do a Real Time Sample Rate conversion.
