Dante ASIO dedicated card

Postby panosscourtis » Wed Jun 15, 2016 8:12 pm

Has anyone had any success trying out a dedicated ASIO Dante card like the Focusrite PCIe REDNET?

I am not talking Dante Virtual Sound Card which has been mentioned in the forum before, but straight Dante out of PB manager?

So far i have had no luck being able to see the card in PB.

Thoughts anyone?

p.s. I have tried numerous DAWs (reaper, audacity) and both seem to be able to "see" the dante card as ASIO....

I just learned from a customer that
Yamaha AIC128D with Firmware V2.5.0-3 work without any Problems together with Pandoras Box.
You get 128 redundant Ch. of Input and Output

Be aware that if you send the outputs directly to a Ri-8 or RiO-1608 you will need Air Remote to Gain to Outputs!!!

The only issue that I've had with this setup as Daniel has it, is that your backup machine (if you have one) will not have the same clock.

My audio guy did not like the fact that he couldn't have both main and backup on at the same time during rehearsals and testing - i just told him, "don't" and the problem was fixed! :D

Hi Justyn,

Can you elaborate on this more on the backup not being online. I normally run complete redundant systems and I am looking into Dante as a upgrade. Right now I use analogue and feed them into a single Radial so that the audio guy only gets main and backups from me. Then when my main and backup run in sync i can swap between them with no delay or difference. What would my backup be doing in a show situation would it not be able to swap seamlessly ?

As far as I remember, the backup worked just fine.

The issue that we had was the fact that you can't sync the clocks when using this setup.
External audio cards that have a Wordclock in & out (the way you synchronize the clocks of many different audio devices).

They play at the same time, but because they're not perfectly in sync... if you play the main and backup at the same time through the PA, you'll hear some terrible doubling and other jarring things...

This is only a problem if your audio guy (or gal) is super picky - like he was with me - or if you actually need more than 1 machine outputting audio at the same time.

I hope this helps,

Copy. SO all is good as long as long as both are not up at the same time.

Thanks Justyn.

Just a little Update on my original request, the connection was finally established as soon as firmware was updated on the Dante PCIE cards
