Is it possible to run the Smpte link from a client machine?
I have the media manager running at front of house, and the Clients are running back stage, the audio machine (which is being controled by SMPTE) is in the same rack as the Client, but I have to run an XLR from front of house for it to get signal.

Am I missing something and could have plugged it into the client this whole time? Or is this handy "feature" just a dream?

I´m sorry, it is a wonderful dream, like you said....
The timecode does not have any use on a client machine. It has to be connected to the manager to control the timeline (or to be given out by it).
