creating a new fixture for pixel mapping

Postby projection_NL » Tue Sep 08, 2009 3:41 pm

For a show I am using a background with a matrix of 20 iPix BB4 fixtures. I want to run this over the PB Matrix Patcher, as an animated background.
The BB4 is a 4 unit RGB LED fixture; each unit has 3 LED's. From a desk I would run each unit in a 24 channel mode: 16bit resolution for each LED.
How do I need to configure this fixture in the Matrix Patcher? Is it possible to run 16bits or does the patcher allways run 3 channels for RGB and no other mode?
So to be clear: I want to program 480 DMX channels for the whole background. How to do this?
Thanks for answers and ideas.

Hi,
the Matrix Patcher supports only 8 Bit RGB DMX Channels. But as i could see in a quick overview, also this fixture you want to use, just has 8 bit colour channels.

Again me,

as i could see in the DMX Sheet of the fixture, you should use the DMX Mode 5 in the fixture. This controls all the cells seperatly in 8 Bit. This is what also the Matrix Version supports.
