What is the best files for Pandoras Box

Postby imag » Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:35 pm

Hi
I am a pretty new user of pandora, but has seen your products being used for some years be one of my friends.

If i make my own content what is the best setting.
I use premiere pro and after effects.

If i make a looping file, is it better that it is short vs long (continues to jump to file start vs 1 BIG file).

Which codec for compression and what type of file(AVI, MOV, M2v).
I know it should be progressive.

Are there any tricks you guys know that?

By the way, i use a i7 cpu but does pandora use all of the cores?

Best regards and a happy weekend

Hello Søren,

the best file Format to use with Pandoras Box is

for Video:
MPEG2, Constant Bitrate, Progressiv, Elemetary Stream

if you need to sync with other servers: no embedded Audio

Audio:
PCM WAV files

Pictures:
BMP, PNG, JPG, TGA
TGA, PNG and BMP also support Alpha

If you need to convert Videos, Version 4.5 has a buildin Encoder (seperate license) or you can use the Mainconcept Encoder.
With those encoders you can convert most MOV and AVI files to MPEG2 files.

More detailed information on encoding can be found in our manual, which you download or open with F1 inside the application.

Regarding Filesize: It does not matter how big your file is. We have played 30GB files with no trouble in Pandoras Box. A looping file should not be too small, but everything above 10 sec should be fine. But for me, I rather have a loop longer than shorter.

Pandoras Box distributes the load across multible cores and CPUs if present.
