Media Player Pro = MEdia Manager Pro?

Postby BrechtNovid » Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:30 pm

We have put up a configuration with 15 Players STD and one Manager STD. The only problem we have now is that we want to add a separte audio file. Since the 2 video layers (=maximum number of layers in STD version) are already used everywhere I suppose we need one PLayer PRO version to play the audio from one player.

In order to do this do we need to upgrade our Manager to a PRO version as well?

Thanx.

No you dont have to update the Manager. A Media Manager (no matter what kind) will send control data to all Media Players and Servers. no mater what kind. Actually you can try it out by pulling a Player PRO from the devices tab into the project.

Ok thanks. I tried the suggustion you gave and it seems to work.
This is our first try-out with your software and I must say that we are more than satisfied with the result!

PS Since it seems to work like this, what's the advantage of a Manager PRO?

I am glad you like it!

Let us know what you are doing with those Players! We are curious! :)

Hi,

regarding the advantage of Media Manager Pro here are the differences:

Manager LT = 1 Timeline Sequence
Manager STD = 2 Timeline Sequences
Manager PRO = 8 Timeline Sequences

These are the only differences in the Manager. All the rest is the same. And I agree that most of the time you only need one Timeline Sequence, but there are very common situations which request a second Timeline Sequence. And sometimes you need even more than two.

Anyhow, if you have a LT and you figure out during programming that you might need more than one Timeline Sequence you can easily upgrade to a higher Version. You can also crossload all Project files in the Managers. If you want to load a show from a PRO Manager into a LT one, it will take the Sequence with ID 1. So you can also decide which Timeline Sequences you want to use.
The Offline Manager is basically a PRO, so it has 8 Timeline Sequences you can work on.

best regards

Patrick

Ok thanks, I was mixing up layers and timelines. It's still a bit new for me.

Hi Patrick,

I can you clarify for me the following, i am about to buy Manager STD for an up coming event:

If i build a 8 Sequence show using Offline Manager can i take this into Media Manager STD & still have access to the 8 Sequences?

Hi Aaron,

As the Manager STD only features two timelines/sequences you will have no access to all the timelines you have pre programmed in the offline manager. For this you would need the Manager PRO.
