Color correction of a Live input

Postby lucken » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:38 am

What is the best way to make some color corrections on Live Inputs?

For example:
- you have 2 different live inputs showing each a Power Point file
- On Input 1 the white looks realy white
- on Input 2 the white looks more like a warm white

What is the best thing to make both whites same colour.

Otherwise it looks not so nice if you have both presentations next to each other.

Hello Lucken,

the first thing I would look at is the source. Can you do color correcting on the output of the graphics card of that computer, most graphiccard drivers give you pretty good access to color correction setting.
If you have no access to it, you also have the option to correct the input of the capture card. Depending on the capture card you are using the device driver gives you more or less options to do that. Just click on Configure in the inspector window and you should be able to confige the input.

If one input looks warm and the other one more white/blue it looks like a color temperature problem. Check if the Source Graphic card has a option to change that.

I hope this helped

Funny, the german broadcasters "ZDF" wanted just that. Any idea how the interaction might look like? Guess this featurewish will take a whole while.......

In some other systems, for example a Barco Viewscape, you can adjust first the black level (with RGB settings) and in a second step, you can adjust the white level (with RGB settings). Once these 2 settings are done, the colours should look the same.

Hi,

we know about that problem and we are working on a black level adjustment. The main focus was actually to make softedge blening more smooth, but once it is done we might be able to use it on inputs or layers. Problem is that this thing is not easy and we had a few things running, but in the wrong way. We are on it, but it might take a while to have it done.
