Stuttering in Video and Audio

If I drag and drop a clip onto a playing timeline onto a layer that is playing, everything is ok. BUT if i expand that layer and add a keyframe to the clip for opacity for example, when I change the value of that keyframe that layer stutters. If the clip that is playing is not locked to the timeline, it starts over again. This also happens if I click and drag this new clip on the timeline, or click and drag or delete a pause cue on the timeline.
