Weird Zoom effect

Postby Linton9 » Thu Jul 29, 2010 4:33 am

Hi, this problem is about to cause some issues I fear...

In a timeline, place Hero and Fillcycle on the same layer [files found here http://www.coolux.de/kb/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=827#p2099, one after the other leaving no gap.
Now play from one into the other.
Notice how the incoming video gets expanded briefly as it loads? This effects the MatrixOutput.

Now try just seeking to a point in fillcycle, then back to hero. Same thing...

We only have 4 layers on our MP Pros

Layer 1 Pre coloured video able to transition into layer 2 or (3+4)
Layer 2 pre coloured video able to transition into layer 1 or (3+4)
Layer 3 to be colorized using the Multi2x feature
Layer 4 white overlay

So at some points in the timeline we're forced to have cuts between videos in layer 3+4. Everytime theres a cut, we experience this error.

Hi Lynden,

I tried to reproduce your problem on my shuttle, but I'm not getting it.
Could you please tell me - which QT Player version are you using?

Thanks,
Julia

Hi Lynden,
sorry or late reply.

This issue can arise, if the new video needs more time to be loaded on the layer, which mostly happens with Quicktime.
Please use preroll for the content in the timeline, for quicktime like 5 seconds. Then you should not see this issue.

Best regards

Hey Georg,

Great to hear from you...

I already have a preroll of 10 seconds applied, should reduce it to 5?

Hi Linton,
the ten seconds before the new container starts, are you running the timeline permanently? or is there a pause somewhere in this 10 sec-area?

Best regards,
Julia

Julia,

yes we are running the timeline without pausing for longer than 10 seconds... more like 15 minutes

Hi Linton!
10 is also fine, the more the better.
We were not yet able to reproduce it here, are you using some other modifications like frameblending or deinterlacing?
Best regards

Hi Linton,

i was able to see the effect when using frameblending. This seems to be an issue.
I can give you a workaround if you need frameblending, where i was able to remove this issue, but this means a bit of work.

Instead of putting all videos one after another on one layer, i placed them alternate on layer 1 and 2, so movie 1 on layer 1, movie 2 on layer 2, movie 3 on layer 1, movie 4 on layer 2 etc
Then the effect was no longer to be seen.
Is this an option for you?
Best regards

Thanks Georg,

I'm working on this tomorrow, frame blending is not required for this, so I'll switch it off...
We can't break up the project onto more layers as you described because of the way a widget is setup to colourise one of the layers.

Cheers, I appreciate your help!!
