Test PB on W7

Postby alverman » Wed Oct 06, 2010 12:20 am

These days I'm trying the new version of PB on W7.
I tried to install it on your laptop and desktop in the office and seems to work well.
In my office machine I have installed of all kinds programs including avg, and PB Manager work fine.

As if I install it on a dedicated machine with clean install W7 PB appears to be unstable, sometimes does not start and I hope to force the shutdown the machine.

What can it be?

Thanks, Alberto

Hi Alberto,

could you please as a first analysis send over the PB log files of the machine where PB is running unstable?
Please send them to support[at]coolux.de.

Thanks!

I can not send a log because when PB crashes I turn off the machine with the power button and does not create any logs.
The crash happens mainly when I clik the mouse on the desktop while PB Manager LT is starting.

Thanks, Alberto

Hi Alberto,

do you have the following items installed on your machine?
DirectX (take it from here: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=923)
.net framework 3.5 (take it from here: viewtopic.php?f=77&t=925)

So PB never really started on this machine?

Best regards,
Julia

Have installed the nvidia ENGTX470 drivers and in nvidia panel see directX 11.
I tried to install directx_feb2010_redist.exe but PB will not start.

On other machine where PB start, although I still click on the desktop, (one 32bit and one 64bit) have directX 11 version, and all suite of microsoft 2008 express.

PB Warp, PB Menu and widget PRO work and I've installed Framework 4

Thanks, Alberto

Hi Alberto,

here some things that you please could check and do:

Right-click on the PB.exe or shortcut, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.
1. The option "run this program in compability mode" should NOT be checked.
2. Disable "visiual themes" and disable "desktop composition".

Please start PB again, did this help to run the program properly?

If you didn't succeed, please export the application and event log from win7 and send them over.
You will find them here:
Open Event Viewer by clicking the Windows Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer.

Best regards,
Julia

SOLVED! ......... I think:)

Uninstalling Asus Game OSD and PB LT Manager works fine.

ASUS Smart Doctor is a utility that manages some features of the video card (NVIDIA ENGTTX470) such as warnings about the speed of the cooling fan videos, temperatures etc..
I do not know what it's Gamer OSD, but if not installed every time you start windows Smart doctor leaves a message stating that gamer osd is not installed, and that some features are not available.

I must also remove smart doctor?
On xp smart doctor and gamer osd gave no problems!

Thanks, Alberto

Hi Alberto,

I can't have a look at Smart Doctor, because I do not have an ASUS graphic card in my computer.
Does Smart Doctor allow you to manage which services / programs he checks? So that you maybe just disable waiting for GameDoctor to be started?

Best regards,
Julia
