Coolux DVI input cards

Postby azman » Thu Feb 09, 2012 9:47 am

Hello,

I'm currently looking after an installation that consists of a Server LT & Coolux DVI input running 4.7.

It is currently running a projection of a foyer of a large educational establishment.
The issue that I have is the client wishing to swap the input connection for different users.
Each user will use there own individual laptop, which leaves me the issue of once the signal is lost the server needs a reboot with new input plugged in.
The card has an auto detect feature but doesn't allow for an input to be hot swapped.
We are looking at placing a scan converter/switcher inline that will push a constant signal(resolution) into the input & allow the various signal changes/swaps.

Is there any option to allow the card to expect interchangeable computer resolutions?

has anyone had any experience with a scan/switcher that will perform this task?

Cheers

Hi azman,

Sorry, but the DVI Input card does not except interchangeable computer resolutions.

There are a couple of switcher scaler on the market that will do the task.
Barco Folsom Image Pro HD is probably the best know.

Stay away from DVI Matrixes, they do not work as a switcher.

So you mean to say that we have to use switcher scaler for that purpose? Anyways thanks for your guideline.

Hi!

Yes, that is right. As we need to re-detect the signal and change the EDID of our card while switching the input, it is not working on the fly. So it is best to use a scaler which is always sending the same signal without breakdowns and no changing resolution.
