Control Sierra Video Router via Pandoras Box

Postby Jan Huewel » Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:25 am

This is a small description on how to control a Sierra Router Matrix Switcher

- Connect Media Manager and the Router via Ethernet
- Make sure that both units are in the same IP address range

- Add a Serial Link device from the device types tab to device tree

As long as there is no connection a red "!" icon will be displayed in the Serial Link entry of the device tree

- Go to the inspector of the serial link and enter the TCP/IP address and port of the router

- Uncheck "Use Serial Link Header" !
The Serial Port is only important when connecting to a Serial Link device.

In this case we only use the IP connection.

- Connect to the router by pressing "Apply Ip&Port"

if the connection was sucessfull the red"!" should disappear and the both units are connected

When restarting the units please make sure that the Router is online before you load the project, otherwise you will have to connect manually to the Router once its online.

If the router loses its connection because of power loss, simply click on "reset connection" in the Serial Link inspector tab

Valid commands for the Router:

Create a new Key for the Serial Link in the TImeline and go to the inspector of the new key, here you may enter one of the following commands

**T1!!
Trigger Preset 1

**Y 1,2!!
Route Output 1 to Input 2

**CLEAR!!
set all Outputs to Input 1

**P1 Y1,1 Y2,2 Y3,3 Y4,4 ~!!
Stores Preset 1 with: out1 to in1, out2 to in2, out3 to in3, out4 to in4

**RESET!!
Resets the Router to default

Best regards
