recommendation for small pc hardware PB player STD

Postby buchie » Wed Feb 27, 2013 10:15 pm

Hello,

I need to calculate a 320 degrees projection. I was thinking about the PB player STD which has warping and blending.

Any suggestion for small, cheap hardware (2U) with a low profile Nvidia Card? or stick to 3U and work with a fullsize GTX 560 and do two outputs per machine?

Very curious if anybody has experience with this,

Thanks and best regards,

Hello,

I've moved your thread into the 3rd party hardware forum. If you have a look into this forum you will find some information about small player hardware.

I think it's a good idea to run with a GTX560 and two Player licences in one PC. RAM recommendation for graphic cards is at least 1280MB.And if you use a 3U chassis you have to take care that the power connector of the graphic card is not on top else it will not fit into the chassis.

Thanks,

That brings up two more questions:

- will win7 pro do 2 outputs with a separate manager?
- and will a dual core CPU handle the load? think 4 video layer/blending/warping

Thanks Michel

If you run the Player with the two dongles in fullscreen you're not able to run a Manager on the same machine. But you can control this Player by a Manager on a separate PC.
For the CPU we recommend a 4core CPU.
Also the harddrives are important. A RAID system is always a good idea.
