pros and cons?
data rates are incredible, compared to single ssd's and even ssd arrays.
does anyone have experience with it?
thank you,

m.2 and PCIE SSDs work great.
Benefit is the performance which can reach up to the speed of 4 PCIe Lanes.
Downside is the missing reduandancy and a lot of time it is hard to use them as boot devices.
m.2 compared to single SSD it is always the way I would go.
SSD Raids can get faster than PCIe SSDs and m.2 when you build a system with 8 or more regular SSDs.
m.2 and PCIe SSDs are also limited in size.
With a good 8x or 16x SSD Controller you can easily get 6 or 7 TB of Storage.
I have worked with systems using PCIe SSDs (Intel), m.2 (Samsung) and SSD Raids (PB Servers).
Hope that helps.
