Hard drive diagnostics

Hello,

Could you recommend Hard drive diagnostics software we could run on our system?

We have began to find errors in our RAID volumes which leads to a drop in performance. We are able to recover the drives but this takes time to rebuild the hard drives. At the moment, apart from a drop in performance the only way to identify an error is during the start up of the servers.

Thanks

Kim

Hi

Are you talking about the media server or other PC?

If you are using media server version 3.5 or 4.0, there should be raid drive management software, 3 ware or 3dware(i am not so sure exact name) on the server.

Hi,

what do you mean it does not recognize any controllers? Please discirbe your problems more exact and waht do you want to do or see?

The 3ware software shows you every situation about the Raid and HArdrives and you can rebuilt or scan the system?!

Nice regards

Mike

Hello Mike,

When I log into 3ware 3DM2 the summary page shows "No Controllers". I have navigated to every possible page and every pages tells me "No Controllers". We are currently running 4 drives in a RAID 0+1 configuration and are using the integrated RAID ports of our TYAN motherboards.

What I am looking for is the ability to schedule diagnostic checks for when the servers are not in use to gather information regarding the performance of the drives.

Thanks for your help

Kim

Dear Kim

it is possible that the units, that were installed at your venue use an Intel onboard RAID.

Please contact James Laschinger at coolux International for further assistance. He can walk you thru.

Best regards

Jan Huewel

Hi Jan,

Our units do use the onboard RAID. I have been working with James to find a solution.

Thanks for your help
