Problems with MOTU UltraLite mk3

Postby jamhot » Wed Feb 17, 2010 2:34 pm

We experienced huge proplems with the MOTU UltraLite mk3 external soundcard.
The solution was to use the driver with the revision 3.7.37320.
With this driver everything worked as it should

Since the driver is not available for download from the regular motu site anymore I am going to post the link:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/motu/downloads/ ... .37320.zip

Hello,

Im having issues with this sound interface as well. Ive tried the drivers you posted but cannot get sound out of the device. Are there any tricks to removing the old bad drivers, or configuring this device to work properly?

Thanks in advance

MOTU drivers do not properly uninstall.

I have not tried this, but I suspect that HijackThis might help you get rid of the unwanted MOTU registry entries.

http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/

HijackThis scans registry for all changes made since the beginning of time. It then allows you to revert any change. Keep in mind it does not differentiate between spyware, good software, operation system changes, etc. Therefore you can revert changes in your registry that are essential to the operation system or necessary software if you are not careful.

I am desperate

I simply cannot make PB player pro 4.7 and motu mk3 ultralight play nice together on win 7 pro 64bit

Sounds (stereo and 7.1) works fine from form the rest of the apps - just not from PB!
In the 'mixer' i dont see a slider for PB.

If I set the sound to be outputted via i.e. the internal speaker everything works fine. The slider and icon for PB shows up.

First i did install the latest drivers (4.0.4.3553)
Then i unistalled the drivers and tried wih the 3.7.3.7320

Same thing, no luck

Hi Søren,

sorry, I can't really help you with this topic.
I talked to clients who are using this motu devices as well, but under XP. And depending on which machine they run it, they are using one of the drivers you mentioned in your last post.
As soon as we get further information / tips about this, we'll hurry up to tell you.

Best regards,
Julia

I am using the 64 bit drivers since it is with win7 64bit -
I suppose that the 32 drivers is a no-go?

when using keeping checked 'use stereo pairs' i can play back stereo files and 8 channel 32bit files (but not 16bit?!)

Still, only stereo out but at least PB see the motus (ultralite mk3, 828mk3 )

....but no multichannel love in win7 so far......

Hi,

hmm, that sounds like a driver problem.
Are you able to play the multich wav files correctly in windows mediaplayer?

Yes, everything plays fine through wmp.
Stereo out in PB works via the motu devices but not multichannel analog output or optical.
When configured as multichannel all audiofiles gets the broken icon in PB.
In stereo mode I can play back the 32bit 8 channel test file (it gets downmixed of course) but not say 16 or 24bit multichannel files.
I have been testing extensively with the two drivers mentioned in the posts above.
PB doesn't like the motu...for the moment

Does there exist a soundcard with multichannel output that PB player supports with win7?

You are not going to like this, but my suggestion would be to get a MP Standard dongle on a XP machine and setup the MOTU output that way. It will work, but there is an extra cost.

Is there a reason why you are using Windows 7 on your playback machines? If you need the audio to work on the output for the computer in question, my suggestion would be to roll back all of the playback machines to XP (which you are allowed to rollback - simply call Microsoft for the install ID). It's not a pleasant experience but again, it would work.
