Video Capture Cards Image Reverse/Flip

Postby proximityav » Wed Apr 14, 2010 12:08 pm

Hi,

This post is directed mainly to Coolux staff. I have recently experienced an issue with a video capture card and a PB media player pro machine where the image captured by the card is displayed within PB reversed/flipped. I believe that this problem is known to staff at Coolux, it is the same problem that is addressed in a previous thread here...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=698

I am currently in the process of building 2 media player pro machines and plan to install Datapath visionRGB E2 cards in each machine. I bought the Datapath cards because I knew that they worked perfectly on previous versions of PB. Apparently this problem only affects the newer release of PB, can anyone from Coolux tell me what the progress is on fixing this issue? I know that the issue can be fixed by applying a mesh to the layer but I'd rather not have to do that a I'd like the opportunity to use the mesh for something else.

Thanks

Hi Julia,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm looking forward to your results as we have a few events coming up that we'd like to use our cards on. Hopefully we'll have an answer soon!

Thanks again...

Hi Paul,

I just tested the VisionRGB Pro1 with newest drivers. It works fine with PB Vers. 4.6.
We do not own the VisionRGB E2, I'm sorry that we cannot test this in the moment.

Could you please send us the log-files of PB Rev. 4254, with VisionRGB E2 Capture Card used?
Hopefully we could find any reason in it.

And could you also do me the favour and make screenshots of the driver settings dialog?
Thanks!

Hi Koenv,

we never really measured the delay of this card. But you can assume, that the delay is about 4 to 6 frames.

Hi Julia,

I am still having these issues with our Datapath visionRGB E2 capture cards, I waited until we installed v4.6 4417 until I posted back here.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "driver settings dialog" attached are some screenshots, please let me know if you need something else. I really would like to resolve this issue without having to use a flip mesh.

This is the visionRGB software control panel preview pane, as you can see it is the correct aspect:

and here is the PB window with datapath card asset selected on layer one without any mesh. (It appears twice as it is a dual channel card):

And now the image is flipped and reversed

Are these the driver details you require?

Hi Paul,

Please make a screen shoot of the driver configuration inside pandoras box.
Select the capture card in your project window.
Now you can see the properties of the card in the Inspector window.
On the bottom you can click configure. Now a driver configuration window should pop up.
That is the window we are interested in and that should give you a flip option.

Hi Damian,

I currently have the Pandoras Media Player PRO unit with Datapath card RGB-E2,

below are the screen shots you asked for.

2 windows appear - 1st pop up then once OK is pressed then the 2nd.

The Datapath card work perfectly in version 4.1 Rev 3288, image appears as it should,

With 4.6 Rev 4417 & 4.6 Rev 4254 the image is inverted/flipped

1st pop up.jpg

2nd pop up.jpg

Would very much like to have this working correctly with out the use of a mesh.

Regards

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

thanks for the pics. We understand that you want to free up the mesh and you are right it makes no sense why it works in Rev 4.1 and not in 4.5.
Have you tried a different Colour Space?
We are still not able to reproduce the problem here. All of our cards work totaly fine and nobody else has reported to have that problem. We do not own a E2, so it is a little bit hard to find where the bug is, since it looks like to be card or driver related.
Here are a few more ideas and things to check:
a) Does the card come with an external configuration tool. Do you have an option there to flip / reverse the image?
b) does the configuration tool allow you to enter negative numbers? -1920 -1200 ? Just an idea. Maybe it works.

We are also discussing to have an flip and reverse option, but that will take a while until it will be implemented.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for you response,
We are not alone with this card issue, please refer to this forum link

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=698

There is also a link at the top of this post

The screen shot shows the same Datapath Card RGB - E2,
this user has the experienced the same issue - that the card worked correctly in an earlier version.

A different colour space doesn't make any difference
There are no options for flip or reverse
Unfortunately negative numbers don't but nice thought.

Card works correctly with capture software & card preview windows, its only in Pandoras that the image is inverted.

Hi lucken,

Since we do have Datapath Vision RGB Pro Cards in our inventory I have checked it again and everything works normal for me. I am using Driver Version 7.2
viewtopic.php?f=78&t=388

I am going to add the wish for a checkbox to flip / reverse a liveinput to our wishlist.
