If you want to use a Gefen DVI Detective you should make sure that the power supply is connected. We had some problems using the Gefen DVI Detective together with an optical DVI transmitter. If the Power is not connected the machines have strange behaviour, like freezing. In these systems we had ATI Grafics Cards running.
