UPS and Auto Shutdown

does anyone have any experience with auto shutdown of PB systems using a smart UPS on the PB network?

i am looking into the APC line, they have some pretty cool smart UPS systems, but i am unfamiliar with the software and handles the let us monitor/control.

any advice would help, and of course i will post all my found data here on this topic.
