Extron switcher & TCP connection in WD

Hi,

I am trying to connect to an Extron ISS 506 switcher via TCP in WD. I have created a connection in connection manager with the correct IP for the switcher. My WD machine is on the network and within the same IP range as the switcher. I can ping the machine from Command with a good respose. All I get in the connection manager is 'waiting for connection'

My local WD machine IP: 192.168.0.2
Extron switcher IP: 192.168.254.254

connection manager setting:
ID: 1
TYPE:Client
IP:192.168.254.254
PORT:0

The manual for the extron 506 does not state a port number for it to connect to under the 'ethernet connection settings'. With other devices I've connected to they've stated port numbers. It says that it supports TCP control protocol. Is there a default port I should be trying? Is there something else I should be doing?

Hi proximityav,

I assume that your Network-Mask is set to 255.255.0.0, otherwise there shouldn't be a ping possible. If you are using 255.255.255.0 it will definitely NOT work.

I can not remember it for sure, but I mean, that the Extron switches use either port 23 or 10001. Have a try with these ports and let me know if it helps.
Port 0 is not a good idea to use as this is reserved for no use.
