Kinect connect error

Postby nodice » Fri Mar 04, 2011 9:43 am

Hi all:
Seems I have the same problem within connect of Kinect, if anyone have connected succesfully pls let me know your setups.
Im using win7 64bit, CLN version 1.0.0.1121 and WD version 163. The Kinect worked well with the test tool CLNUIDeviceTest, but when I want to use it in WD, when I pressed the start device button, the WD crashed, here's the wrong message. Since it's in Chinese the other wrong message below is helping you to read it quickly but not from mine.
Another thing is that I have not installed dotnet recent now, will it cause this problem?

Hi Nodice,
WD rev 163 is a BETA release and as I know you need to remove old Kinect driver and install the latest one CL-NUI-Platform-1.0.0.1210.
In addiction I suggest you to double check your .NET Framework to be sure you have release 4.0 installed (released for win7).

I hope this helps

Greetings

Hi Nodice and Ricky,

there was a little fault in the installer for WD Pro 163: we inserted the wrong dll for the Kinect :( sorry!

The new WD Version will come out today afternoon or on Monday, there the correct dll will be inserted and then it should work (using WD 16x and CLN version 1.0.0.1210).

Nodice, I'll send you the correct dll now via email!

Best regards,
Julia

Hi

I have installed all the drivers for the kinect and it works well most of te time.
But when I've worked with the kinect for two hours WD crashes or the kinect input dispayer gives a distortion over its input signal.
Could this happen because the kinect gets to hot?

thanks

Hi Ruben,

I didn't hear this problem before - I will do a longtherm test to see if this problem reproduces at my side as well.
Do you have the Kinect Input Tool opened all the time?

Julia

Hi Julia,

Yes, most of the time I have the Kinect input tool open.
I will send the file to you in a minute.

Maybe it is a production fault in the kinect, I could return this one and check it out.

Hi Ruben,

thanks for sending your project!
I had it now running vor several hours and everything still works fine. The Kinect body is slightly warm, but not really hot.

Sorry, can't help you right now.
Did you maybe get any messages in Windows Event logs that point to the problem?

Best regards,
Julia

The new kinect I got gives the same problem.

I guess this is a windows on mac problem.

Hi Ruben,

this could be a reason.
But I can't prove this because I'm only working under Windows directly.
Did you try to run the Kinect under a real Windows PC?

Julia
