Presets like on a MA lighting consoles

Postby erictrician » Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:51 am

We are currently in the process of changing our system over to Pandora's box and widget designer and I have a question in regards to presets. In our show we use 4 Brothers, Brothers and sons V-base units to have pan, tilt, zoom, and focus control over 4 projectors. I am wondering if there is a way to create presets much like a lighting console. This way when I need to tweak a position or focus I can change the needed parameters in the preset and it is changed anywhere that preset is called. I am pretty sure that this is not achievable in Pandora's.
So my question is, if there is a way to store only specific parameters to a location on the time line.

Thanks for any input.

Hi Eric,

unfortunately you are right. There is actually no way to update the key-frames used in the timeline automatically.
The only workaround I could imagine is to automate this with the widget designer. But in this case you would have to manually type in every position (timecode) of the used preset. Now you can jump to and overwrite the keys via widget.

Sorry for no easier way at the moment.

No Problem Markus.

Thanks for the info, it is what I assumed. We will just use widget as the work around. Might not be a bad idea to have the option in the future though.

Keep up the great work on an amazing product!!

Hey Eric-

You probably already knew this -
Toggle key mode works in some situations, but it affects the entire layer so it can make more trouble than it is worth sometimes.

Hi Eric,

thanks for the compliment.
Of course, this feature request is already on the list. I will have another chat to our developers on this topic.
I struggled with this myself again last week. It's one of my wishes as well... :-)

Cheers,
Markus

Hey Matt,

Yeah thought about using toggle key mode and thought it might present more problems then it would solve, thanks for the suggestion though. We have a couple of options we are considering, it's just that using the moving projectors we usually have to update a few cues every day. Just like moving lights they are sometimes a not the best at recalling a position exactly after they home every day. All else is going great. Hope you are well.
