Feedback to a device

Postby JustynR » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:03 am

Is there an easy way to get feedback to a tablet (android, iPad, iPhone)?

I have a show coming up where I have 4 people with iPads or android tablets ... or something like it...

Like a gameshow... They are to choose 1 of 4 buttons on the tablet. I would like that button to change colours (maybe blue?) then after a cue/time it changes colour depending on whether the answer is right or wrong...
Then it changes back after a reset cue...

Also, a count down would be great on the tablet too...

Is there an app someone knows about to make this happen? or do i need to make one?

Thanks,

J

Hi Justyn,

what about running the Widget Designer STD on the tablet PCs and remoting them via scripts or the network broadcating!?
You may have all programming in the unit itself including the color change or whatever and send this info about e.g. clicks via WLAN to you "Master WD" and control other things with this.

Hi Markus,

Thanks, this would be/is a great solution, but this particular show is sponsored by Samsung... so it has to be an android tablet, and it will be seen on camera.

As far as I understand, the OSC is one way communication?

Thanks again,

Hi!

You are right. There is only an OSC-Input node, so you can't send back information.
I'm not really familiar to Android. Maybe it is possible to establish an ethernet connection or to remote another computer to connect to master widget.

Sorry, but that's all I can advice.

What about on an iPad then?

Is there an app that exists? that would be a great start... the Pilot of the show is coming up, and they probably wouldn't mind if it was just on an iPad for now.

Hi,

there is a free app in the Appstore called WD Remote. This will control the WD, but you are not able to send feedback into the Ipad since it will only work on UDP connection.

regards

Patrick

Easy? Not really.

There are a bunch of VNC apps for android that would let you connect to a PC running WD with a few big buttons on it.

Or you could custom code something and use TCP.

VNC would definitely be easier.
