Phidgets

Postby MEGALIGHT » Sun Jan 29, 2012 5:57 pm

Hi,

I would like to use following phidgets:
1)
http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=1072
the reason is that you can make a long distance connection with a CAT 5 cable and connect all the USB on it and having free contacts
2)
http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3530 optical encoder
with
http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=1047

How can i use this?

thanks,

Dominique

Hi Dominique,

we currently support a range of Phidgets products in Widget Designer Pro, yet the range of products supported his is under constant development .

In order to understand what you are trying to achieve, please explain a little what you are going to do and what you wish to control using the rotary encoder and the highspeed input board.

There is a curved room with different waterlocks (projected) these waterlocks can be opened by turning on a big wheel (different wheels) then the water comes in (all projected) While the water is coming in there are different effects activated with DMX and also with the dual relay board http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3051
this board wil be connected to the
http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=1072

This why i would like to have also acces to this board with WD pro.

I have the 1012 board and it is working perfect when i use the USB input on the PC. When i connect the 1012 to the 1072 who is connected to the PC with a CAT 5 cable, it doesn't work with WD pro (it works well in the Phidgets tool, this tell me that the connection is good). Is it possible that WD pro is only looking to the USB port and not to the ethernet port?

Thanks in advance,

Dominique

Hi Dominique,

you are right, we are only looking onto the USB connection regarding the Phidgets. I could check with our development if we have a chance to integrate this Phidget board into the WD,but this might take a while.

We also have the chance to add custom features to the WD for special projects, but for this our sales team would need to send you a quote, since we will need to charge for the development time.

The other alternative for your installation would be our Sensor Link. This would allow to connect industrial sensors to the WD. This can be either an encoder or also simple on/off switches. Maybe this would work for your installation as well.

Or another idea, but a bit around the corner. We can read out the Phidget RFID reciever. So you could use one reciever on each wheel, connecting a RFID tag on the back of the wheel. As soon as you rotate the wheel the RFID tag will be in front of the reciever and this can trigger the WD. Just a thought, no idea if that will make you happy....

best regards

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

It would be nice to integrate the 1072 board so we can use the USB and the ethernet connections.

For the other boards my client ask me wat would be the cost to integrate other Phidget boards? you can mail me directly info@megalight.be

The id with de RFID is not a bad id. I will integrate it in a other project.

Thanks,

Dominique

Hi,

there are currently no plans in implementing other phidgets. You can always contact your support/sales team to get a quote on custom implementations.
