MIDI nodes

Postby Katlaan » Fri Mar 23, 2012 2:40 pm

Hi,

For a sportsbar I’m trying to make a full dummieproof system with audio, video and lights. When it’s all finished everything should be interactive with each other. So for example when they start a live program the lights don’t need to ‘flash’ all the time but just move in a smooth kind of way.

I’m programming on Widget designer PRO and have the following setup:
- For video:
• 1 PB Manager STD (with widget designer on a touch screen)
• 3 PB Player quad servers
- Lights:
• Avolite
- Sound:
• Soundcraft

When the bartender starts his shift they want to press 1 button so everything starts and the lights go to a ‘day’ preset.
When the bar opens he can use the touch screen to select a certain mood or live input.

Fase 1 getting everything up and running:
The buttons are connected to an F8 (midisolutions) which will go through an Audiofire4 to the widget designer and then activate an R8 (also midisolutions) to get everything running.

How do I configure the midi input – output nodes? Is there a way to ‘monitor’ the input/output? What is the best way to do this?
Is there anyone who has programmed a setup like this?

Greetings

Depending on the type and number of lights you have to control, why not:
- or triggering them by a sequence
- or using the artnet recorder/player in the Widget designer Pro

Then you can leave already the Avolite out of it. This way everything can be triggered directly by the touch screen and there is no need of Midi.

Hi,

When I trigger them by a sequence it's gonna be the same everyday...
We're gonna try it trough beat detection so the PB chooses randomly the clips and the lights will go to the beat.
They also want to 'play' live with lights so the Avolite has to stay...

Hi!

Without wanting to speak against the Avolight, you could as well set up a sound input in the widget to do some random stuff.
However, I hope that this will be a cool installations. Sounds definitely like fun.

Keep us informed if you have further issues or thoughts about it.
