kinect for windows

Hi Coolux,

I red about a new kinect, made for use with windows, in stead of use with the x-box. (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/)
This works with a new sdk, and has some new improvements, like skeleton tracking improvements.

Will it be possible to use this kinect in combination with Widget designer?
Is there in the new widget designer a possibility to use the skeleton tracking info?
And would it be possible to use up to 4 kinects in one file?

Hi Ruben,

I am not really sure what they have changed in this "new"?? version...
The kinect can be used since many month / years within the widget designer. I am not sure if they are providing new / different data than up to now.

At the moment the kinect is tracking specific point and not the skeleton. If there will be a new version we will have to have a look inside this and implement it to the Widget Designer.
As it is always only possible to have one device connected at a time to one computer you cannot use multiple kinects in one widget, but you can use different widgets and send all data to a master one.

Hello, I have adapted a project within the development toolkit that uses SDK 1.5.
This code contains a client that connects via tcp to WD on port 9050 and sends the x, y position of the right hand and left.
I'm trying to implement the skeleton into a widget, see if you can attach it to do something and tell me.

The project is not optimized at all, you must enter the ip address of WD.
Create a project WD and launch a server listening on port 9050.
I enclose a draft WD for a start.
