Is it possible to pre-roll from WD?

Postby claude.rivet » Wed Jul 03, 2013 9:37 pm

I made a widget that loads a video on a layer and then play it and fade it in. It's more complex than that but for the purpose of my question it will suffice. The only issue I have is that sometimes the video starts abrutly, akin to when you play a large video from the timeline. When I use the timeline I simply pre-roll the video and the problem is solved. Is it possible to do this (or equivalent) via WD (set the media to pre-roll)? How?

thank you for your time
regards

Hi,

When you assign a video to a layer it will be prepared for playback. That means when you assign it to the layer without directly starting it you are "pre-rolling" manually.
Now when you play it after waiting a little time it will start like if you had pre-rolled it in the timeline.

Best regards

So if I get this straight, I load the media and set playbacktransport to 128(pause), WDWait for lets say 0.5 and then set playbacktransport to 64(play), that would be a 0.5 pre-roll?

Thanks for your answer, much helpful!

Hi,

yes this is correct! Setting the layer to "Pause" or "Stop" before loading the media might be even better.
