Invisible Buttons

Postby zleepwalka » Wed Aug 14, 2013 10:21 am

Hello Cominity!
I need some help with building an interactive Presentation with Widget Designer 4.0.
Is it possible to create invisible buttons somehow?
I tried to create an image, wich looks like my background and put it over the Buttons but then the Image blocks the button...
Can anyone help?

Thanks! Timo

Hey Timo,

- Use PictureBox's Click Event (with a image that can not be seen
- use nodes to check where the mouse currently is (and if it is clicked)
- if using Pandoras Box use Layer Interaction (PB sends mouse events to WD), so the user won't see the WD anyway

I'm curious why the button has to be hidden. Is the WD visible on the presentation screen? Usually PB is shown and WD does the work in the background.

Best regards

First of all: Thanks for the tip!

The WD should work standalone.
The WD has to be used as a touch interface in combination with an interactive Presentation at a trade fair booth. (The WD is also used as a Light-controler)
Unfortunately the client has his own powerpoint Presentation with his own company design. So I have to convert his Slides into Images and use them as Background for the WD.
But that means I have to use Invisible Navigation Buttons to put them over the original Presentation.
I hope my description isn't too chaotic...

Hi,

well you can use Pandoras Box to show the images. Transitions between slides are possible and you can learn about touch injection etc.

Hi,

That's right. I COULD use PB. But that would mean that the touch interface and the shown content is shown on two different Displays, right?
Please correct me, if I'm wrong... This is my first "big" Project with WD and I have to learn a lot...

Thanks

Hi,

one of the new features of version 5.5 is that you can make PB send any input to either the layers (currently only possible with the webbrowser asset) or to a widget designer device. It is then possible to have Pandoras Box on a machine and also use the mouse in pandoras box, but the interaction is done by the widget designer.
