iPod Touch (5th Generation) - Not Parsing Accelerometer Data

Postby videoscience » Fri Jul 03, 2015 12:27 pm

Hi there,

I have a small project that requires the use of the WD Remote App sending Accelerometer data to WD. The app works fine with an iPhone 5, however I would like to use an iPod Touch (5th Gen) 32GB.

When using the iPod Touch, WD Remote sends all the touch data WD which I can see in the node, however it does not send the accelerometer XYZ data.

I have tried toggling "enable accelerometer" in the settings tab several times. I have downloaded other apps to check the accelerometer is actually working and it is.

Can anyone offer some insight into why this is not working......

Thanks,
Tim.

Hi,

I guess apple changed something.
Coolux has stopped/paused development on that app, because Apple keeps changing things and it is hard and very time-consuming to keep track with them.

Did you try to downgrade the OS on the iPod? That might help.

No luck with the downgrade. Apparently it is not possible to go from iOS 8 to iOS 7 anymore.

Trying the opposite procedure and updating from iOS 8.1.3 to 8.4 to see if there is any fix. Very annoying as it was the primary reason we bought the iPod Touch to 8.4.

Fingers crossed.

It is either iOS 8 or a change of hardware accelerometer in the newer generation iDevices.

Accelerometer data in WD Remote works with iPhone 4S and iPhone 5S, both with iOS 7.x.x installed on them.

Will try and get a hold of an iPhone with OS v8 installed and see if the problem occurs again.

Tim.

You can probably get the accelerometer data out with one of the many OSC apps out there.
